It tries to evoke that weird "free" feeling the stock Mail.app icon has, while containing nods to the service and purpose itself (e.g, the mountains of Switzerland, PGP encryption, and the stamp itself). My eyes got used to the Mail.app icon over the years, so I opted to fashion an icon in that general style. Email is too important to live in a browser tab, especially if your muscle memory is built up to have it on your dock/switcher/etc. You can use Proton VPN to stream your favorite shows, share files over BitTorrent, access censored content and protect your privacy. Thus, I wrote up a simple wrapper app for the website that hooks in to get proper notifications, mailto:// support, and so on. The Proton VPN app for Windows has been specifically engineered to be secure, fast, and easy to use. I'm not a bridge user, and I regularly get into tab hell - so running it in a tab isn't my ideal scenario. You can view emails in conversations, Gmail-style, and use a combination of both labels and folders to keep your messages organized. But we know that a desktop app is high on the wishlist for many of you, so we thought you’d like to know it’s on our radar. We’re still in the early stages, and we don’t have a beta or general release timeline just yet. Conclusion Both Private-Mail and ProtonMail are indeed two robust email services for. Finally, we’re experimenting with an Electron.js desktop app to take Proton Mail beyond the browser for Mac, Linux, and Windows.
